I assume you're not going to work at all for awhile to raise said little one? Might be easier to get some reading in that way, though just looking at a child makes me want to sleep for like, ever. 
I hope there's something you'd like from my list. I can't imagine there wouldn't be. We read in mostly different circles but the things you've suggested to me that I have read- I'm thinking We Need to Talk About Kevin here- were top notch.

I think I mentioned Divergent by Veronica Roth to you, right? I don't really have any other ideas at the moment. Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor has been read by a few people on this site too. I just finished it. Those both have a bit of a YA bent, though.
