Weirdly enough, I've been complaining for years about this book not coming out (especially after seeing it was out in Dutch and German) and no information to be found about problems with the French publisher or anything to explain this delay, and when I noticed it had been released that day I went out of my way to go get it at the bookstore at 10pm, but it's been sitting there a month untouched (I haven't even read the blurb) and I've picked and read four other books since instead. Go figure...
Funny how that can happen sometimes.
It would be nice if it's the one set in Vienna and their take is good (the plot of their second novel didn't impress me that much either, even though all the rest was interesting). I guess this couple is about the only writers for whom a comparison to Eco's novels isn't too absurd.
I vaguely remember the premise of the plot, but not the ending - clearly didn't leave too much of an impression. Like I said, I found the descriptions of life in Vienna the most interesting, and the Osman aspects of it (the plot revolves around a surprise visit from an Osman ambassador to Vienna).
I really wouldn't compare them to Eco, though... maybe to some extent in writing style, but surely not in terms of quality. And unenthuastic as I may be about the Vatican, I can't help thinking Monaldi and Sorti's fussing about how their book was censored in Italy mostly seems aimed at selling more copies in the translations that are in fact published.

That's the one set in Vienna, yes? Not my favourite, though the take on Vienna is fascinating.
