It's not that strange, considering the hardcover is an import from the US Larry Send a noteboard - 25/09/2009 11:44:27 PM
I'm finding it strange that they're getting so excited about a book that's been out for a year. The publishing industry is odd.

But unless I'm mistaken, both Canongate and Viking are imprints of the same global company, but with distribution arrangements that leads to one territory (in this case, the US) getting a year's head start on the publication within that territory. I believe outside of importers and international online stores like Amazon, the book wouldn't be available in UK/Irish stores.

The same thing has been done in reverse in the US in regards to Steven Erikson's books, for example.

Having read Link, I doubt it's really YA... she's hard to describe, though. But utterly awesome. *NM* - 25/09/2009 09:16:25 PM 294 Views
Indeed. She's definitely not YA, in my opinion. - 25/09/2009 09:23:31 PM 774 Views
