Books by Tomi Paola, Animalia is on that list and it's fun the whole way through, and...dang it I can't even remember now!!! GRR!!!
Anyway. I don't agree with all of the books on that list, BUT, I do agree with many of them. Obviously what sells well is not necessarily best, but yah. Some are great.
In general, I'd look for predominately picture books with quality illustrations (not cheap crappy cartoony shit. Cartoony is okay, but not cheap crappy shit) for her to be interested in. When she gets older, she can make her own stories as you tell her the story of the book, and stuff like that. Books with "Easter eggs" hidden in the illustrations are a good time.
