I was never into Soviet sci-fi. I heard it was pretty short, too, and the more interesting parts of Stalker were all from Tarkovsky's expansion of the concept.


Well, from what I have been told, Tarkovsky takes a small part of the story and develops it radically. I mean, Stalker has no clear indications of aliens at all. At least not until the creepy final scene, and even then...

From what I could tell, looking at a copy, it seems to be about the same length as Solaris.
