It would take me a long time to finish this list.

So, which of these authors have you read? I am starting a little project which includes reading something from each of these. Anyone feeling up to the challenge?
John Steinbeck
Ernest Hemingway
William Faulkner

John Steinbeck
Ernest Hemingway
William Faulkner
Those three are the only ones that I know I've read. And Faulkner is the only one of them whose books I actually completed.
Faulkner: I've read As I Lay Dying, The Sound and the Fury, and his short story A Rose For Emily.
Hemingway: We read A Farewell To Arms in high school, but it was horrible and I didn't finish it.
Steinbeck: I had to read The Red Pony when I was in 7th grade. I never finished the book. I recall not being able to understand why the book had that name when the red pony was only in the first part of the book. Of course, maybe if I had finished it, I would have understood.
So, I have a list of authors here. It's a bit like Pokémon... Gotta catch them all.

Yes, even people with virtually no education have usually heard of Churchill and/or Kipling. *NM*

Of course it is meaningless, all prizes are.

Of all the Russian authors to receive the prize, Solzhenitsyn is the worst stylistically

Don't put it on a list at amazon. Put it in the cart, then click on "purchase".

There's an ITV film of the book with Keira Knightley. It looks utterly appalling.
