Of those first six, I've only read 1984 and Jonathan Strange (which I find a bizarre inclusion on the list anyway, being a recent book, fairly entertaining and not really as deep as the other books on the list, as far as I can tell without having read most of them anyway). Flush with my success with Mason & Dixon, however, I might give Gravity's Rainbow a shot (and then fail miserably to finish it, like as not, but oh well). Cryptonomicon, Dune and, to a far lesser degree, Foundation do rank among the books I intend to read at some point. Maybe Dhalgren, and those three I'd never heard of seem like they might be interesting too...
