The Führer loved him, so I'm sure I will too. Tom Send a noteboard - 13/07/2012 04:46:10 AM
Seriously, I am not averse to popular writers as long as someone doesn't ascribe to them some sort of value they don't have. With Druon I think I was expecting too much. With May I am looking for Orientalist condescension and adventure writing, no more. It's more that Germans love him, he's been translated widely, and as a "cultural" phenomenon I'd like to read his six-part "Oriental Series". I doubt I'd like his American Indian novels, given that they're so inaccurate and I live in the US, but his Orientalist novels...well, sure, I'll go along for the ride as he explains the life of the savage Mussulman heathens.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius

Not even if you stack them in really neat piles? You need to get your C.D.O. checked. *NM* - 17/07/2012 08:07:42 PM 388 Views
