The Lies of Locke Lamora might be worth a look too, though that's a series that is far, far from being finished. There's also a slight chance that it might collapse altogether, given the author's personal difficulties, but Lies is fairly stand-alone and is fantastic and can be enjoyed to pieces all on its own. It also comes with the language warning.
