Don't listen to him. It's a horribly boring book. Couldn't finish it *NM* Dark Knight Send a noteboard - 24/01/2013 01:46:24 AM
Missed Last Unicorn, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, the Doomsday Book, the Eyre affair (kept trying to put in Bronte), Outlander, Sunshine, and Elric Saga. I have genuinely never heard of any of those books or their authors. A few, like #100, space trilogy by c.S Lewis, I only got because I just started typing last names of authors on my shelf - that was pretty effective.

Set in Britain during the Napoleon Wars, about two wizards (yes, it's not entirely historically accurate...). But a very good book, even if that description doesn't sound like it.

I've heard very good things about The Eyre Affair too, but still haven't read it myself. The Last Unicorn is a fairly good fairy tale-like story. Outlander is the first in Diana Gabaldon's series about a British woman who somehow goes back in time to 18th century Scotland (I understand that she and her Scotsman emigrate to 18th century America in later books). A friend of mine once described it as "kilt porn", which is accurate, though harsh - they're not bad books. The Elric Saga is some old sword and sorcery fantasy, I'm not quite sure if the books were written first, or the comics... the former, presumably. Don't know the other two.
