I ordered the Pleiade version of Renart after further consideration and found La Roman de la Rose but I'm not certain if it's actually old French or just a modernized translation. I suspect that it's the original but I'm not sure.

It may be that it doesn't have the text properly presented because it says "Le présent ouvrage est une invitation à découvrir en images, à travers les manuscrits enluminés de la BNF, la matière littéraire et le substrat culturel de ce monument de la littérature médiévale." But it's hardcover.

I ordered from Canada because the shipping was less expensive and, oddly, I found what I was looking for all in one spot (usually I order from amazon.fr because the Canadian selection isn't as good).


I've got no idea, but it's a large scale book. It's really not clear from the description if it contains the full text and if it will be translated. It's not that long, it might well have both plus tons of pages from the manuscripts. BNF's (that's the French National Library, I guess you knew that) art books about books are usually really nice objects.
