Now you made me wonder how to translate "nun einmal" in English... I get it because Dutch has the exact same combination, but it's not so easily translated. "At the end of the day", maybe - it's more something like "it is what it is and you can't change that".
View original postThe point, as I see it personally, is not an attempt at reviving a collective penance for Germans over what happened. That time is done, and Germany needs it to be done in order to make rational decisions about its future, something that the book makes clear. However, it is also a warning, that as Germany, or any other nation for that matter, moves away from knee-jerk reactions and collective brainwashing, and boldly lifts the veil of political correctness to re-exert its Will to Power, so to speak, it needs to make its choices carefully, to avoid inflicting unspeakable evil.
Interesting that you're posting this on the same day that I read an article about Jean-Claude Juncker suggesting that we shouldn't be too quick to think war within Europe is completely unthinkable.
