That's a great description of Karsa... you'll see tons more of him, but yeah, he does grow on you.

Better than the first book for me but not as good as Memories of Ice, which not only had a stronger set of plot lines but also had the same strength of feeling that the Chain of Dogs plotline captured so well.
I'm sure tons of people have already said this, but Memories of Ice is probably the best book in the series. Any Erikson book has weaker and stronger parts, but MoI's weaker parts are few and far between, and the stronger ones are that awesome.

not exactly interesting me as a storyline at the moment. You'll get more storylines later on (including Felisin, might I add). House of Chains is a somewhat tricky book, it was always going to be hard to combine the different plotlines, and it doesn't always work that well. It's quite crucial for the rest of the series, though - setting up the plotlines for Karsa, Icarium, Trull Sengar once you meet him, and Tavore of course.
