Who is right sometimes, and wrong many times. The fact he is a flawed human being makes him an interesting character.
That book does a very good job showing Corran Horn's flaws, and how he is not all that and is a mere second tier character and is no Luke or Wedge. He is no true Jedi, of course Corran Horn only gets this when his face figuratively hits the pavement multiple times, and even then he doesn't always get it.

Personally I like reading about Corran Horn, that said I would probably want to deck him in real life
