View original postBoth are almost too faithful to the scene ordering of the novel and there certainly are copious quotes from Fitzgerald's book, so it wouldn't be too bad to watch the film first and then read the book. But there are things in the book that are left open for interpretation, so it might be best to read that so the movie doesn't color them too much.

Definitely seems like you were right and it's better to read the book first. I agree that it's a great book, one of the best I've read this year for sure.
