and they are even better than I remembered. Really great stuff, the best he has done - he's a great writer in any case, but in Sandman you've got great artists on top of it.

He is probably be at his best in short stories, or as in Sandman's case a long story made up by a number of separate and sometimes quite different volumes, each of which is separated in turn into the individual issues with their own mini-plotlines. It's basically a mosaic, and it's brilliant.
