Thank you so much for the summary for those of us who can't read Italian. I have one question, though: From what I've heard, in earlier times, anyone with enough money could buy an officer's commission in the Italian Army. The result was an incompetent officer corps and enlisted men who didn't trust their supperiors at all. Supposedly, this was the major reason behind the Italians' gross underperformance in both World Wars. Is there any truth to this, or is it just an urban legend?

English is not my native language, please don't flame me when I make mistakes.
