But how about a vacuum cleaner? One place I checked mentioned gently vacuuming the pages using the brush attachment or the hose attachment with cheesecloth tied over it to dampen the suction. Of course, if your books are really old and fragile, this is probably too risky, but if not, it sounds like a handy way to remove spores.
