View original post If it's to remain a WoTmania fansite, it can stay as it is and probably die of obscurity in a few years time.

As a WOT site it died pretty much around the same time as RJ. It's already an "obscure" WOT site for almost anyone but the old timers on various WOT sites.

There's really no point trying to keep that side of it, though I think the "other literarure" aspect would also take a huge amount of work and rejuvenation to lift off the ground.

Book forums as a whole seem to be either stagnating or dwindling in activity, as I've noticed this even with those dedicated to very visible writers like Martin or Neil Gaiman (to name two boards where I was either once active or am semi-active even today). Social media (and blogs before them) cannibalized much of the social aspects of forum participation when they created more focused elements of news/discussion than the hodge-podge that used to be seen at sites like wotmania.

Sometimes, I wonder if running a book forum would be akin to having UseNet discussions in the 21st century...
