I'm not reading much this month Larry Send a noteboard - 02/03/2014 04:18:29 AM

Most of my "reading time" the past three weeks has been devoted to three books, the latter two World War I-related: Vergil's Aeneid (Latin), Liviu Rebreanu, Padurea Spânzuraților (Forest of the Hanged; Romanian), and Miroslav Krleža, Hrvatski Bog Mars; Serbo-Croatian). Pretty much the same will hold true for the next couple of months at least, with only a few books mixed in. I am working laboriously on reading the other two and I am editing every few nights my old 1994 Latin course translation notes on Book I of Vergil's epic poem (not that my rough translation back then makes for elegant reads, but I am blogging these in scene-by-scene posts of 40-80 lines each and just passed the halfway point of Book I today).

But I might finish Haruki Murakami's latest shortly, as I have less than 20 pages remaining in the Spanish translation (I think the English translation won't be out until August at the earliest).
