I will reiterate that I am sad to hear that Marquez died, just as I am sad to hear that any non-sociopathic individual has died. With respect to his work, though, I think he is probably one of the most overrated authors of our time. I am curious to find out what authors people who may still read this site believe to be overrated. I'm not talking about people that you necessarily think are bad authors, or people who may be assigned reading in schools and universities that many don't like. I'm talking in particular about people you believe to be overrated; i.e., the praise they receive is far disproportionate to the inherent worth of their intellectual product.

Another whose fiction at least is very overrated is André Breton. My opinion, of course.

Another... Alain Robbe-Grillet and with him all the "nouveau roman" literary movement, so pretentious and boring.
