It's not YA Larry Send a noteboard - 16/07/2014 05:17:42 AM

I thought, reading this review, that you were surely reviewing another YA release. It sounds like this book has about all of the depth of that genre. What drew you to read and review this book? Is this author supposed to be an up and comer or something or was it just something to read? I, personally, am tiring of the whole dystopian shtick.

I occasionally read some YA, mostly what's nominated for a National Book a Award in that category, and this book is worse than those. I read it because I saw it featured back in January for high-profile 2014 releases and I added it to my purchase list. Colbert featured it on his show back in early June, but I already had pre-ordered it then. But yes, it's a poor book made even worse by the pre-pub coverage it received.

I hate when I try a book recommendation that turns out to be horrible. - 17/07/2014 08:23:44 PM 729 Views
