Of course activity is decreasing over time and it's hard to see how that decline will be reversed, but I know from experience that sites can survive for a long time in a not-quite-dead state.

Yes, but I'm weary now. I'm finding myself re-evaluating if I want to be online at all anywhere right now and this is what motivated my recent comments. If there's nothing really to look forward to, wouldn't it be better to just move on? That's the question I ask myself almost daily these past few weeks. I should note that this involves blogging, tweeting, etc. and not just this site.

Because that's his own choice, surely. And if not, what's the point of suggesting to others to join you in abandoning the site? That would only make sense if you join it with a suggestion to migrate en masse to some other site.

Part of it may indeed be that - if there's very little activity, why should one waste time paying for it to stay up? The other question didn't come to my mind, as I presumed many had already found other things, like Facebook, to occupy their time.

Just in a very morose mood and probably will take a change in scenery to break it. That or this low-grade fever and constant aching to fade after a while.
