I want to understand every single word. I'm approaching it as a study, and less as reading for pleasure. A few hundred lines a day is sufficient; I really am trying to figure out something else to read to add something for pleasure. However, I opened up some other authors who had seemed on the hard side and found that I was reading a lot easier. Of course, it goes without saying that Koine works are easy enough to read with no assistance. I explained it to a Russian friend the other day by saying this: imagine you are a foreigner and you just learned Russian. That's like knowing Koine. Trying to read Homer is like attempting to read The Tale of Igor's Campaign in Old East Slavic, but with hardly a single word repeated, and assuming that it's about 30 times as long as the Tale of Igor's Campaign.

Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
