But certainly not the only policy. There is always the lying, cheating, and above mentioned murder ploy.

I'd go with honesty here. Don't forget to serve your portion with a whole helping of tact. "I just couldn't get into it. I've heard it's good from several people and I'm disappointed I didn't like it more." Bringing along something that you like a great deal is also a good choice.

Do try to avoid condescencion or snobbery. "How could you read this sh1t? What kind of moron are you?" are phrases to avoid.
