So, who's that new kid on the block, the one that you either randomly picked up at the bookstore (you must be made of money) or borrowed from a friend who was peddling their book like crack to everyone he met, fanaticism in his eyes.

John Brown's one for me. I also liked the two books that are out in Suzanne Collins' Hunger Games series. I'm reading Un Lun Dun by Mieville right now, and he's new to me since I've yet to read anything else by him.
