Yes most definitely, so far i have found the magic system in Rune lord series to be most fascinating even though i have read only the first three books in that series. Some how gathering abilites from one person to another was very original and fresh instead of being born with it

Is that David Farland? I think I've read some of that, but I can't remember.

Also Sanderson's warbreaker the concept of *breath* transfer along with people discriminating those who buy and sell it was very refreshing

I really need to get 'round to reading Sanderson sometime in the not-too-distant future.
