This must be my third of fourth time trying to read Dune. My best result this far has been the part where the kid who ought to ripped apart piece by piece for being so disgusting, and the only tolerable character in the book are left to the desert. (Paul and Jessica, I think they're called).

1. How the hell can you like Dune? It's supposed to be, like, a masterpiece, after all. More like a piece of crap.


I like it because I felt like it was believable. I got caught up in the world, and I liked the plot.

2. How can one tolerate the characters? They're inhuman and arrogant (so, so arrogant!) and just plain disgusting. My favourite characters are the Harkonnens :D


The characters make sense from their background. I understood where they were coming from, sort of.

3. How do you pronounce Kwisatz Haderach? I say it like it was Germany (well, more like if it were Finnish, but that wouldn't tell much)


I have no idea. How I pronounce it in my head may not be the right way.

4. WHAT do words like faufreluches (which I guess isn't English), quasi-fief, fief-complete, hodded, baliset, gestalten etcetcetc... mean?

Don't answer that :D I like the language of the book, though. Shows how much English there still is for me to learn. But it's hard!
