I really liked it, definitely looking forward to the next book.

I think the people calling it a Harry Potter ripoff haven't actually read this book. The only similarity between the two is that both characters are learning magic at their respective schools. In the ways that they learn, there's no comparison.
I'm noticing that most of the authors I've really been liking the recently all seem to be overweight men with bushy beards (Martin, Jordan, Rothfuss, Stross, Stirling). Is it possible they are all really the same highly prolific man with multiple personality disorder? I've never seen any pictures with more than one of them in it at a time!
You know, I noticed the same thing. In fact, before Jordan died, I was convinced that he and George R R Martin were the same person. Their jacket photos look almost identical.
That theory probably would explain why it's taking the authors I've actually read (Martin, Rothfuss) so long to come out with their next books. Only one persona can write at a time. Anyone else read Stirling or Stross and notice the same time lag in new releases?
