Like others have said, Narnia, Harry Potter and David Eddings are a good start. The Hobbit is a brilliant bedtime story, we read it to the littlest sister when she was eight or so. Teenagers love Pratchett. And China Mieville whenever seems appropriate. Plus, of course, the Series We Are Not Mentioning :D


I'm torn on Mieville. I really liked Perdido Street Station but it took forever to get into it. Hm.
