I'm working on a paper about the reactionary and conformistic nature of pornography. Books include:
The Dialectic of Sex, the case for feminist revolution, Shulamith Firestone
Det kriminelle kjønn (the criminal gender), various authors.
Looking forward to this one, as it's a series of essays saying that female sexuality, and thus women in general, have been controlled both by denying that they possess an independent sexuality, and, hypocritically, by inventing an apparatus of legislature to control said non-existent sexuality.
Sex and Violence, or Nature and Art, Camille Paglia.
Female Chauvinist Pigs - Women and the Rise of Raunch Culture, Ariel Levy.
And, if I have the time,
Drood, Dan Simmons
Strange Survivals: Some Chapters in the History of Man, S. Baring-Gould
mnem, Simon Stranger
Om Jesus (About Jesus), Jonas Gardell. Looks fun, a realistic archeological study of Jesus, not as an Aryan Super-Sayan Hippie, but as a toothless man suffering from malnutrition and looking like he's seventy.

Indeed, I marry them in their unlawful bed, with an open heart I affirm the true right of any man and woman to their dark slobbering nights which are rare enough, and against which too many laws conspire.

I liked Song better than Tigana and thought Lions of Al-Rasan was better than both. *NM*
