Marvellous story teller, can't write endings for shit. Well, to be fair his endings tend to be okay but not that satisfying. The ending to Otherland, otoh, was fucking awful. And I consider Otherland to be his best work.

I'm hoping for better with his current fantasy series, Shadowthorn or whatever it's called (the first 2 books of which I've enjoyed.)
