Didn't Brienne hear that Arya had taken a ship to the Free Cities from Saltpans (is that the place?). I don't remember much of aSoIaF either, but I'm pretty certain this is true.
That's the place alright, but I'm pretty certain nobody knows Arya is alive, let alone hanging around Braavos. I'm trying to think of anyone around Saltpans who might have recognised her and told Brienne, but I'm drawing a blank.
This could all be rendered academic by somebody bothering to pull a book out
I'm in work now but I'll check it later EDIT: Hang on. Gendry is with Cat, isn't he? He knows Arya is alive. Hmmm.
