I did not read Goodkind but did read the other two. While I agree that RJ's story proceeds along more cliche lines than GRRM's, I never liked GRRM's horrific violence and sexual abuse depictions and constant hops between characters, nor could I ever bring myself to care who will end up on the stupid throne... The only interesting characters were Jon and Tyrion, both of whom were absent in the last novel.

On the other hand, I reread RJ several times and will do so again. He touches me emotionally - I *care* about WoT characters and what will happen to them. Not so with GRRM, despite his tighter plots.

So call me shallow - I like the tragic hero archetype. Give me Kinslayer over Kingslayer any day!

I suppose it all depends on what the purpose of their book is. - 07/12/2009 10:04:48 AM 675 Views
Overall, a valid assessment. - 07/12/2009 02:07:47 PM 712 Views
Nynaeve doesn't have red hair! She has brown hair! - 07/12/2009 09:29:07 PM 712 Views
She's not a priestess, either. Other than "red-haired priestess" the rest was 100% valid. - 08/12/2009 12:39:07 AM 706 Views
I mentioned her not being a priestess in my earlier post. - 09/12/2009 03:23:12 AM 672 Views
Don't you think that, if that were corrected, the entries would be pretty much valid? - 09/12/2009 09:12:55 PM 664 Views
Of course I do. *NM* - 08/01/2010 07:25:31 PM 310 Views
