Like I said, the story wasn't super original, but it wasn't that bad. Yes it was fan service, and yes it was cliche, but that was what it was meant to be. The only reason I gave it a 7/10 was because I'm an Elder Scrolls junkie, and if its purpose was to appease fans of the game then I'm willing to judge it within those bounds. Then again I'm just generally a very accepting and uncritical person when it comes to most things so you are probably completely right.

That being said, I think you'll like it if you are a fan of the games. I'm replaying Oblivion for the third or fourth time right now and I just don't ever get tired of it. The magic is all there, and there's plenty of action and stealth too so however you played the games you'll see a bit in the book (plus we get to see the return of a certain sword....)
