Not for plot convienence, but it is how it is developing. There is motivation. And it is how the story if flowing naturally. And as for the villain, I really would say they're more of an antagonistic character, not evil, but severely misguided. I dislike pure good and pure evil.

The past is just that, the past. You can only truly live by looking to the future!
