What makes a villain a villain? Human qualities? Lack of? I'm curious to know. Should they have redeeming qualities? Should they just be completely sinister?


But they're much harder to do.

Villains like the Joker from the Dark Knight, or even Moridin from WoT.


I enjoy the scenes where he's really out there, like in the Prologue to EotW and the scene where he's playing Shah'rah by himself in PoD. The latter is actually a very well done (IMHO) Moridin PoV.

The other times where he's just dark, brooding, plotting... almost rational... he seems rather run-of-the-mill.
