Xanth was the first sf/f series that I remember devouring. Reignited my love for reading, which fizzled a bit during my first year of college. But, was rekindled when working in a bookstore when the new WoT was released (PoD, I think), and I had to find out what the big deal was...enter geocities version of wotmania...
