I read "Byzantium" a year or two ago, the only book of his I've read yet. I liked it, but was slightly disappointed with it, since I picked it up expecting it to be more about that intriguing city (yes, pun intended), not expecting all the side journey's the monk made. Still, it was a fun read.


I was expecting more of Empire myself, but thoroughly enjoyed Aidan's journey, the Danes, etc. It also gave a nice little glimpse into pre-Schism Irish monasticism, if a very small one, that I rather liked reading.
