Sometimes it's interesting, when they say where the font was first used at the back and give a bit of its history. I also found myself excited when reading a book about the Valois to see that Francis I not only invited da Vinci to France (hence the Mona Lisa is in the Louvre), but he also sponsored and bankrolled the royal printer, Claude Garamond (after whom the Garamond typeface is named).

I tend to prefer narrower and taller typefaces. They're more elegant and much easier on the eyes.
