My wife is looking for a fantasy series to read - she liked Mistborn but didn't like Elantris, and she loved Martin but can't stand Jordan. Any suggestions?
Starting with Curse of the Mistwraith it is about two royal half brothers who get exiled from their homes back to the lands their ancestors fled because of rebellion. One can control elemental light, and the other shadow. There talents are needed to combat the sentinent mists that have slowly been choking the life out of the planet. In the process, the wraiths curse them to eminimity...
The series is a lot more descriptive than Jordan, but has no real good/bad guy. Both protagonists serve as antagonists to each other. There is plenty of political intrigue, and some have criticized Wurts about the violent ending of Curse of the Mistwraith
As of right now there are 7 books with the 8th yet to be released in the United States.
The past is just that, the past. You can only truly live by looking to the future!

Otherland is also good, but it meanders a lot more than MS&T. Also, it's more sci-fi than fantasy. *NM*

It's not so much a series as a "oh, people liked my book, I'll start writing sequels".
