Cook is brusque. There are no descriptions and the story flows badly. "We went here. Then we went here. Then we did this. Then we marched here."
Zelazny is. . .flaky, might be a good word? I read his first two Amber books, and every bit of the world seemed made up on the spot. Too, the stories were chock full of deus ex machina. It's like reading a literary acid trip.
Sanderson is blanderson. I enjoyed his WoT book, but it felt good in spite of him, not because of him. I've read his Mistborn trilogy and Elantris stand-alone, and was far from impressed with either. I especially didn't care for his dialog, characters, action scenes, and world building. Quite a list, huh?
Anyway. Glad you liked the stuff, but consider this a counter-vote to your suggestions.
