I'm thinking the series will improve quite a bit by the end Bryce Send a noteboard - 03/09/2009 11:55:08 AM
I'm banking on the fact that as this character, Kvothe, gets older, he will become someone that the adult readers can relate to a lot more, and seem less "cookie-cutter." I think that if you look back to the majority of epic fantasy books with young heroes, the first book almost always feels a little like this, while the next book in the series always has some cover quote about "taking bold new strides..." blah blah blah. This is what I'm hoping for in the second book. Character growth as Kvothe ages and perhaps a more healthy chunk of all grown up Kvothe's story, since I'm totally loving that part for some reason.
Formerly Dark Prophecy, now I'm just me.
