I recently saw an EBook reader in a bookshop and thought - 'cool - although it's a bit of an outlay on the reader if I could load it up then take it out that would be great'. Then I saw the cost of the books and it didn't seem like such a great deal.

The best thing about it is the ease - when I take short journeys I don't want to lug a huge 700 page book for 10 minutes on the train so ebooks would be great. And for long journeys, holidays etc I would have a selection if one lost my interest (this would have been great for when I was at Uni - deciding on which books to take was a killer :) )

All good so far. But there are some books I will ALWAYS buy 'in the flesh' so to speak - the last WOT books for example. I wouldn't want to then spend the same on the ebook so I wouldn't use it so much, so the ebooks I bought for it would seem even more expensive for the use I got out of them.

It would be a hard transition for me from real paper to digital paper alone as there is something very comfortable about your favourite and well-thumbed book on the shelf.

Thinking about digital media I download music but will still buy a CD of an artist I particularly like to be able to have it in my hand and feel it.

Maybe ebooks will go down a compromise route similar to buying a CD and copying it to your MP3 - you bike the book and are able to download a digital version (for free or a reduced price as you have already bought a copy)
