I loved reading about the landscapes. How he set up scenes by making you feel the air. Those parts that just described the land as the flew by in the train seemed like time travel. Getting ahead of the war by fleeing to the country side. But it caught up with them. It was really already there. No escape.
My only problem was the changing and shifting of names. But I eventually got the hang of it. I really wish I was fluent in Russian. I'd love to read this book in it's native language. I feel I am missing nuances and cues all the time as I'm reading.
I'm sure reading it again will be easier and more enjoyable after the discussion.

I mostly agree with your points, but I'm not sure Zhivago was ever disillusioned with revolution.
