Books are great; they really are. I grew up reading them, I've posted on a book website for nigh on ten years, and I have a pretty huge bookshelf crammed full of the things. People reading my arguments for ebooks might not believe this, but I am ANYTHING but anti-book. Ebooks are just. . .well, better.
I loan my reader out on a regular basis to friends, and every one of them has returned it saying they wish they had one, and prefer my reader to regular books.
I really do understand that most of us have a love affair with books that's hard to think of ending, but the fact is, there are better ways to read these days. It really is nicer, reading on a dedicated reader device. Those who disagree typically do so emotionally, rather than physically. It's never "man, this thing died on me AGAIN! I want my book back" or "it's so uncomfortable holding this thing, I wish I had my book" or even "the text looks awful on this; I'm grabbing a book." You just don't hear stuff like that. People just can't bear to think of giving up books. It can be sad to think of shelving your dogeared copy of your favorite book, but once you start reading it on a reader, you won't miss it.

Ideally, universities will start renting out eTextbook readers, or something. *NM*

That'd be great. My school rents out standard ebook readers now, so it won't be long. *NM*
