It's often considered "post-cyberpunk" beetnemesis Send a noteboard - 19/04/2010 05:23:15 PM
And it's definitely NOT political.

By "post-cyberpunk," I mean... well what's cyberpunk? Gritty, pessimistic, the world is kinda in the crapper and is controlled by ultracorporations, technology is ubiquitous and is sometimes take the place of our humanity.

Snow Crash is... happier. Or maybe more optimistic. There are still superpowerful corporations, but they're not all evil, and because there's a lot of them, they're not super-powerful, just powerful.

There's a ton of technology, but the people are still PEOPLE. And there's the general atmosphere that everything is NOT inherently doomed. It has a sense of humor about itself- hell, the main character is named Hiro Protagonist.

And it's definitely not politically motivated.
I amuse myself.
