They signed up for an organization that is supposed to be) apolitical for a reason. Active duty military members can NOT be allowed to exploit their position to push a political agenda, no matter which side they're on. Which is why that Birther asshat who is refusing to deploy needs to be punished ASAP.


While the military claims to be apolitical it is not and never had been.

By virtue of the people in it, it has very strong conservative ties. Those people who make the decisions as to what the uniform may be worn for off duty are only sometimes apolitical in their final position. All too frequently the military winds up being shown in ways that certainly appear political because the people with the power to approve such matters do so based on their own biases.

And yes, as a USAF Veteran I've seen that in action a couple of times.
