Melbourne Storms have been breaching the salary cap for the last 5 years. As punishment, the following things have occurred -
- Stripped of their '07 and '09 Premierships
- Stripped of their 3 Minor Premierships
- Have to return $1.1 million prize money, which will be equally distributed to the other teams
- Have been fined $500K
- Have been stripped of all points already earned this season
- Will not earn any more points this season, so will finish on 0 points, and as the wooden spooners.
Some say these penalties are harsh....but I say THEY CHEATED. Of course they're gonna bloody win if they buy all the best players. And additionally, they beat the Broncos in the semifinals TWICE, therefore preventing our chances of reaching the finals.
And don't tell ME that Slater, Inglis and Smith didn't know about it!! But in Melbourne's defence, what more can you expect from southerners?
