Oh, fine. Lupine Send a noteboard - 05/09/2009 07:33:39 PM
This survey is so long that if I put effort into it I should get some feedback.

*pretends she wasn't planning to do this all along*

2. Did you stick around for the closing?
As soon as RAFO was up, I was done with wotmania.

I think a lot of people who haven't been... how to put it? Emotionally codependent with wotmania? Something like that. The people who see it more as an entertainment/discussion resource, and less of a social/support network, tended to be very quick with the transition. And I completely get that, but at the same time, I don't like being looked down on for my attachment.

3. How did you feel about the whole thing - and about the subsequent transition?
While I realize Mike had no obligation to help us, I personally had expected that he'd work with us a bit more or at least leave up a one-page notice that wotmania was gone that clicked through to RAFO or Dragonmount, rather than just automatically going to the latter. The way the whole thing was done was a little bit shitty. Not malicious, but insensitive.

Yeah. Definitely.

6. What's your pick for our collective identity? (Rafolites, Rafonauts...)
RAFhOles, or, if that fails, just RAFOs.

I love Rafolites and pre-Rafolites, though! It was you who came up with that, yes?

I don't care, but I don't like the way the bars are arranged for content. I really think the message boards should all be under one tab, with informational content in another tab, personal settings in a third and directory assistance in a fourth (FAQs, who are the admins, how to use the site, list of members, etc.).

This is one of those things that never would have occurred to me, but now that you say it, I agree completely. For me it could very likely make the difference between being an across-the-boards member and just sticking with the CMB. I'm sure that goes for other people, too.

Have you talked to Ben about it? I guess it's technically something I could do, layout-wise, but it really feels like it should be an administrative decision.

13. Do you like the current logo? If not, what would you like to see?
I like the logo but I'd like to see the interface upgraded a little bit.

Hmm. The general vibe I'm getting is that most people are pretty happy with (or apathetic about) the current design, so I'm not sure I want to invest many hours into making a new one, based on current responses. It seems like most people would be happy with a few more color options and some tweaking. What do you mean by "upgraded," exactly?

14. If you've given any general thought to the matter, please tell me your thoughts here. (Sketch something out in words, maybe?)
Cut out half of the stupid WoT smileys and fix the thing where half the time if you write the number 8 it ends up making a stupid smiley.

That's something for Ben to attend to.

17. Are you content with your given name & surname? If not, how come? What would you change it to if you could?
Yes. Actually, "content" makes my attitude sound less positive than it is.

Yours is very nice. What is the phonetic value of the i, btw?

19. What was the first piece of genuine "literature" that you remember appreciating?
I think it was 1984. I read it in 1985 so I figured I was safe.

Good plan.

22. If you could invite a foreign/distant friend to visit your city/town at any season or time of year, which would you pick as ideal?
May

How come?
